Issue One - The Hardware - Building your own Internet Workstation from individual components is neither easy nor difficult. There is a risk that it won't work, and it's not as simple as purchasing an off-the-shelf, ready-assembled DOS machine. Building your own PC is the challenge of the closing years of the 20'th century, it can save you money, open up the 'mystery' of PC's, and result in a better configuration. It also leaves you better prepared for when you do have to rebuild your PC. For some: 'there is no other way'.
